HCC grows its team of experienced serious injury lawyers in London

We are pleased to confirm that we have boosted the headcount of the HCC team in London with the arrival of two experienced lawyers.

Elizabeth Hayward joins HCC as a Senior Associate from Clyde & Co. Liz has more than twenty years’ claimant and defendant catastrophic injury experience. At HCC she will focus exclusively on representing claimants with severe and life changing injuries, and families that have been bereaved.  This includes spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopaedic injury, amputation and psychological trauma.

Liz has a particular interest representing claimants injured in accidents involving animals, especially equine cases, and has achieved success with a number of these cases. Liz has concluded numerous claims during her 20-year career, many of which have involved disputes on liability and have been settled at values in excess of £1m.

Heather Petrie joins HCC as a Senior Associate from Bolt Burdon Kemp.  Heather specialises in claimant catastrophic injury claims and in particular has highly specialist experience in guiding people and families who have been affected by circumstances leading to a traumatic brain injury. Heather has fought for catastrophically injured clients for over a decade and is an accredited Litigator at the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and a keen motorcyclist, so has a particular passion and tenacity for representing clients negligently injured in road traffic collisions.

Patrick Maguire, Partner and Head of the London office at HCC, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Liz and Heather to our growing team in London. Both are vastly experienced specialists in catastrophic injury and will bolster the first-class team that has been established over the past three years.   Liz and Heather’s appointments are pivotal for the next phase of organic growth for the London department and will ensure that we can look after more clients and families with the same level of service and empathy.”

Elizabeth Hayward, Senior Associate at HCC, said:

“I am delighted to be joining the London office of HCC.  Having closely followed the Firm’s work, and seen their focus on client care, I am looking forward to contributing to its continued success.  My focus will be on building a trusting relationship with my clients and maintaining the HCC ‘family first’ philosophy for those who have been affected by life-changing injuries.”

Heather Petrie, Senior Associate at HCC, said:

“I am excited to join HCC and looking forward to working with my new colleagues and continuing to ensure clients and their families get first class legal advice after they have experienced life-changing injuries. I am particularly pleased to be given the opportunity to bring my extensive experience representing those who have suffered traumatic brain injury to even more clients and families through HCC’s partnerships with key charities and other organisations. HCC’s core values are for all their lawyers to be: Innovative, Empathetic, Proactive & Authentic and I could not be happier to work for a Firm with such wonderful priorities, that fully align with my own.”

Martin James, Director of HCC, added:

“Our London office continues to go from strength to strength and perfectly complements our offerings in Manchester and Birmingham. 2024 is a big year for HCC as we continue to grow, develop and invest in new talent and focus on our strategy to be an employer of choice in the serious injury legal market.”
